SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 493
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Matthew Franke of Troop 255 in Corpus Christi, who has |
|
|
achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and will be presented the |
|
|
coveted Eagle Badge at a Court of Honor on March 19, 2011; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, To earn the highest advancement rank, a Scout must |
|
|
be committed to doing his best in all aspects of his life; he must |
|
|
fulfill requirements in the areas of leadership, service, |
|
|
outdoor skills, and personal and social responsibility and rise |
|
|
through the ranks of Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, |
|
|
and Life to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Matthew showed outstanding leadership through the |
|
|
planning and execution of a service project that has benefited |
|
|
his community; he designed and built two cabinets with shelves |
|
|
for the Agua Dulce Baptist Church preschool department, where the |
|
|
students now have a place for their backpacks, coats, and school |
|
|
supplies; he also organized a donation drive for books, puzzles, |
|
|
toys, and monetary contributions for the preschool; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Matthew is an honor student at John Paul II High |
|
|
School, where he enjoys playing on the tennis team; an active |
|
|
member of Second Baptist Church and its youth group, he has |
|
|
volunteered for many community organizations; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Matthew has demonstrated that he is faithful to |
|
|
the Scout Oath and Law; he is truly a shining example for the |
|
|
young people of Texas, and he brings great honor to himself, his |
|
|
family, and his troop, all of whom rejoice in his noteworthy |
|
|
accomplishment; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Matthew Franke for earning the rank |
|
|
of Eagle Scout and congratulate him on his great achievement; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
Eagle Scout Franke as an expression of highest regard from the |
|
|
Texas Senate. |
