SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 507
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Avanell C. Heard Moore on the grand occasion of her
  100th birthday; and
         WHEREAS, This gracious lady is well known for her charm and
  generosity of spirit, and she is a revered, lifelong resident of
  Ben Wheeler; and
         WHEREAS, Avanell C. Heard Moore was born March 20, 1911,
  the youngest child of Jesse and Sabra "Molly" Heard; she met
  Monna Lee "Booster" Moore at the age of 16, and after a three-year
  courtship, the couple married in 1930; they raised three children
  and delighted in each other's company over the course of almost
  73 years of marriage; and
         WHEREAS, A creative and talented homemaker and mother,
  Mrs. Moore has always enjoyed doing crafts, sewing, canning,
  baking, playing games, and fishing; in addition to her duties at
  home, she worked many hours in the family business, Moore's
  General Merchandise, which was run by four generations of the
  Moore family and is now a restaurant, meeting hall, and
  entertainment venue known as Moore's Store; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Moore and her husband traveled extensively
  by car in retirement, and she assembled a fascinating rock
  collection from the locations they visited throughout North
  America; and
         WHEREAS, A devout Christian who practices her faith in her
  daily life, Mrs. Moore is a member of the Ben Wheeler Church of
  Christ; she continues to live independently in her home and
  enjoys solving puzzles and visiting with her grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, In celebration of her birthday, friends and
  family are gathering at Moore's Store on March 19, 2011, to
  congratulate her and share in this milestone in her life; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby recognize Avanell C. Heard Moore as a
  treasured citizen of Ben Wheeler and our state and extend to her
  best wishes for a memorable 100th birthday; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
