SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 521

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Samantha Prather on earning the Girl Scout Gold Award, which will be presented to her by the Amarillo Region of Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains Council on April 9, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Few Girl Scouts attain this distinguished award; it is the highest level of achievement in the Girl Scout program; and

WHEREAS, Fulfilling the requirements of the Gold Award develops leadership skills and organizational abilities as well as a commitment to community service; girls working toward the award gain valuable experience that will contribute to their future success; and

WHEREAS, Samantha has designed and conducted a service project that will have a positive and lasting effect on her community; and

WHEREAS, Samantha worked together with two other Girl Scouts on a nutrition and fitness education project; they showed people how to make small but significant changes in their everyday lives that would help them reap the benefits of a healthier life through exercise and wholesome food choices; and

WHEREAS, By earning the Gold Award, Samantha has brought honor to herself, her family, her council, and her community, and she deserves recognition for her dedication and achievement; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend Samantha Prather on receiving this prestigious award and extend to her congratulations on her exemplary accomplishment; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
