SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 525
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Richard R. Johnson
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Corpus Christi in mourning the loss of Richard R.
  "Dik" Johnson, who died February 25, 2011, at the age of 68; and
         WHEREAS, Richard Johnson was born October 6, 1942, in
  Cheboygan, Michigan; he served with honor in the United States
  Navy for four years aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson earned a bachelor's degree in
  industrial education from Central Michigan University; he moved
  to Corpus Christi in 1976 and soon began a career at the Corpus
  Christi Army Depot, where he held several important positions,
  including security chief and computer chief; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson was active in numerous organizations
  devoted to representing the interests of people with
  disabilities, including the Corpus Christi Army Depot
  Individuals with Disabilities Program Committee and the Texas
  Governor's Committee for Persons with Disabilities; and
         WHEREAS, He was recognized numerous times for his
  outstanding performance both at work and as a volunteer, and
  March 15, 1989, was proclaimed Richard Johnson Day in Corpus
  Christi in recognition of his dedication and service; and
         WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and determination, he
  gave generously to others, and his family and friends will
  continue to live with the cherished memories of his life and his
  many achievements; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family and friends of Richard R. Johnson; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Richard Johnson.
