Jayne Harris |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|
|
citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Jayne Harris, who |
|
|
died February 27, 2011, at the age of 82; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Jayne Harris was born on April 11, 1928, in Alice, |
|
|
Texas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, She was dedicated to her work as a homemaker and |
|
|
became a prominent leader in her community; she was a supporter |
|
|
of several charities and volunteered her time and efforts on |
|
|
behalf of the Vietnam Memorial and Alpha Home; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, She was noted for her deep-seated commitment to |
|
|
the Republican Party and for her hard work on numerous Republican |
|
|
campaigns, and she was inducted into the Texas Republican Women's |
|
|
Hall of Fame; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Jayne Harris was an exemplary citizen who was |
|
|
respected in the community for her many accomplishments; she was |
|
|
a devout Christian and a member of Wayside Chapel; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, and generosity, |
|
|
she gave unselfishly to others, and her wisdom, warmth, and |
|
|
valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew her; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Jayne Harris was a devoted mother and grandmother, |
|
|
and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by her |
|
|
family and many friends; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
|
family of Jayne Harris: her daughters and son-in-law, Jayne and |
|
|
Waymond Lightfoot and Cheryl Harris; her sons, Daniel Harris and |
|
|
Bobby Harris; her sister, Bettye King; and her 16 grandchildren |
|
|
and five great-grandchildren; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
|
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
|
memory of Jayne Harris. |
