SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 540
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Jayne Harris
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Jayne Harris, who
  died February 27, 2011, at the age of 82; and
         WHEREAS, Jayne Harris was born on April 11, 1928, in Alice,
  Texas; and
         WHEREAS, She was dedicated to her work as a homemaker and
  became a prominent leader in her community; she was a supporter
  of several charities and volunteered her time and efforts on
  behalf of the Vietnam Memorial and Alpha Home; and
         WHEREAS, She was noted for her deep-seated commitment to
  the Republican Party and for her hard work on numerous Republican
  campaigns, and she was inducted into the Texas Republican Women's
  Hall of Fame; and
         WHEREAS, Jayne Harris was an exemplary citizen who was
  respected in the community for her many accomplishments; she was
  a devout Christian and a member of Wayside Chapel; and
         WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, and generosity,
  she gave unselfishly to others, and her wisdom, warmth, and
  valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew her; and
         WHEREAS, Jayne Harris was a devoted mother and grandmother,
  and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by her
  family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Jayne Harris: her daughters and son-in-law, Jayne and
  Waymond Lightfoot and Cheryl Harris; her sons, Daniel Harris and
  Bobby Harris; her sister, Bettye King; and her 16 grandchildren
  and five great-grandchildren; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Jayne Harris.
