SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 559

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Leadership Friendswood; and

WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Friendswood Chamber of Commerce since 2001, Leadership Friendswood was created to educate businesspeople and other citizens interested in developing leadership skills; and

WHEREAS, This outstanding program consists of nine sessions at which local leaders and specialists in various fields provide resources and expertise on such issues as the local economy and industry, city and county government, education, health care, and utilities; and

WHEREAS, Sessions combine lectures, dialogue among speakers, on-site visits, class participation, and a class project; they allow participants to foster relationships with influential leaders and businesspeople and engender pride in the history and future of the community; and

WHEREAS, Members of this year's class are Melissa Davenport, Marissa Stidham, Shirley Lange, Chris J. Brown, René Ibarra, Eileen Scanks, Tammy Guidry, Chris Salinas, Pauletta Jeter, Mike Marcantel, and Beth Stanfield; serving as coordinators for this year's class are program alumni Steve Anderson, Carol Marcantel, and Lucy Woltz; and

WHEREAS, It is truly fitting that Leadership Friendswood and its members be recognized for their many contributions to the community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend Leadership Friendswood on its exemplary work in preparing people to assume leadership roles in the community and extend best wishes to its members for continued success; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this outstanding organization as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
