WHEREAS, Texas is home to 44 Early College High Schools and
five combined Early College High School and Texas Science,
Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Academies, serving more
  than 10,000 students statewide; and
WHEREAS, Early College High Schools blend high school and
college curricula in order to provide traditionally underserved
populations of students the opportunity to earn up to 60 hours of
college credit while they finish high school; and
WHEREAS, These institutions create an entry into higher
education for those who are the first generation of their
families to attend college and provide dual credit at no cost to
the students; by duplicating a college setting, Early College
High Schools help students gain the skills they will need in
order to thrive at college, increasing their attendance and
  success rates; and

Legacy Early College High School, Travis Early College High
School, and Judson Early College Academy are visiting the Capitol
during Early College High School Week, representing Early
College High Schools from across the state, including those in
Senate District 23, which are Cedar Hill Collegiate High School,
Kathlyn Joy Gilliam Collegiate Academy, and Trinidad "Trini"
Garza Early College High School at Mountain View College; and
WHEREAS, It is truly fitting that these outstanding
institutions should be recognized for their dedication to
  preparing students from all walks of life for success in college;
  now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
Legislature, hereby commend the students, faculties, and

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
