SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 577
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  A. Louis Patterson III
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Pastor A. Louis Patterson III, an
  inspirational and influential minister, who died recently; and
         WHEREAS, A. Louis Patterson III was born in San Bernardino,
  California, and grew up in Houston; he attended Houston Baptist
  University and Texas Southern University before earning a
  bachelor's degree in business administration from historic
  Morehouse College; and
         WHEREAS, He accepted his call to the ministry in 1992, and
  began a course of study at Dallas Theological Seminary; he went
  on to further his education at Regent's Park College at Oxford
  University, where he studied homiletics and theology; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of his career, Pastor Patterson
  preached at numerous citywide revivals and national conferences
  in addition to his duties at the churches he served, which
  included Mount Corinth Missionary Baptist Church, Oak Cliff
  Bible Fellowship, Friendship-West Baptist Church, and the
  historic Sims Chapel Baptist Church; and
         WHEREAS, He was the founder and pastor of the Love Church
  in Dallas; he also served on the board of Carver Bible College in
  Atlanta and as treasurer of On Point Ministries, and was
  published in the journal, The African American Pulpit; and
         WHEREAS, Pastor Patterson was a man of courage, strength,
  and an abiding faith that he practiced in his daily life; he was
  beloved by his family and many friends, and he will long be
  remembered with affection and admiration by all those who were
  privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family and friends of A. Louis Patterson III; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate,
  and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
  A. Louis Patterson III.
