SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 583
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Rudi R. Rodriguez, who is receiving the 2010 Texas
  Historical Commission Award of Excellence in Preserving History
  at the commission's annual preservation conference on April 1,
  2011, in Austin; and
         WHEREAS, The award honors an individual, organization, or
  project that has contributed significantly to the understanding
  or preservation of Texas or local history; and
         WHEREAS, A businessman and community leader, Rudi
  Rodriguez has followed his passion for Texas and its history for
  more than 25 years; in the last 10 years, he focused primarily on
  Tejanos in Texas history; he founded TexasTejano.com, a popular
  website and a business enterprise that has created two
  world-class traveling exhibits and produced major Tejano
  documentaries and plays; and
         WHEREAS, Rudi has been a champion of Tejano Heritage Month
  and worked with representatives of the Texas Historical
  Commission, the Texas General Land Office, the Texas State
  Historical Association, the National Trust for Historic
  Preservation, and the National Park Service's El Camino Real de
  Los Tejas project in efforts to preserve the state's history; and
         WHEREAS, Rudi recently began planning for a Hispanic
  Heritage Center of Texas to educate, elevate, and celebrate the
  Hispanic experience of the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries; the
  center has obtained nonprofit status and plans are proceeding for
  a vibrant museum, a world-class research library, a multipurpose
  center, and a Tejano Living Heritage Village; it will be located
  in the HemisFair Park in San Antonio; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend Rudi R. Rodriguez for his
  outstanding contributions to preserving Texas history for future
  generations and extend to him congratulations on receiving the
  Texas Historical Commission Award of Excellence in Preserving
  History; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
