SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 593

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Geraldine J. Garcia, who has been selected for induction into the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame for her outstanding work in public service; and

WHEREAS, The San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame honors those women who have contributed significantly to the San Antonio community and the Bexar County region through their accomplishments in their profession or field of service; and

WHEREAS, Geraldine Garcia is the assistant chief of police in the San Antonio Police Department; a role model in this nontraditional field for women, she is committed to making the streets of San Antonio safer for all and to improving the quality of life for its citizens; and

WHEREAS, She was instrumental in the development of the Downtown Safe Zone video cameras and twilight patrol shift; she created the Community Policing Unit, and she serves as a motivational speaker for the department; and

WHEREAS, Geraldine Garcia is highly respected for her dedication to her work and for her many accomplishments as a police officer, and her success in her profession serves as an example to women across our state; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend Geraldine Garcia for her exceptional public service and extend congratulations to her on her induction into the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
