SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 594

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Dr. Marilyn Harrington, who has been selected for induction into the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame for her outstanding work in the health professions; and

WHEREAS, The San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame honors those women who have contributed significantly to the San Antonio community and the Bexar County region through their accomplishments in their profession or field of service; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Marilyn Harrington has degrees in dental hygiene and a doctorate in higher education administration; she is the retired dean of the School of Health Professions at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio; and

WHEREAS, During her tenure with the school, the enrollment doubled, and she made concerted efforts to recruit and retain students from underrepresented groups and from economically and educationally disadvantaged backgrounds; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Harrington is highly respected for her dedication to her work and for her outstanding accomplishments in the field of health professions, and she is an inspiration to women across our state; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Marilyn Harrington for her exceptional achievements and extend congratulations to her on her induction into the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
