SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 617
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Ale H. Hooser
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Ale H. "Jim" Hooser, who died February
  25, 2011, at the age of 89; and
         WHEREAS, Jim Hooser was born October 24, 1921; he grew up
  in Plainview, where he attended high school and Wayland Baptist
  College; he served the nation with honor and distinction during
  World War II as a member of the United States Army Air Corps; and
         WHEREAS, During his military service, Mr. Hooser was
  stationed at Wichita Falls, where he met Mary Jo Stephens; they
  were married in October of 1945 and later returned to Plainview,
  and he earned bachelor's and master's degrees in education from
  Texas Tech University; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Hooser enjoyed a long and productive career in
  education, first as a teacher and principal and later as an
  education advocate; he joined the staff of the Texas State
  Teachers Association in 1958 and represented the organization
  through numerous sessions of the Texas Legislature; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Hooser retired from the Texas State Teachers
  Association in 1979 but continued his service to the state as an
  aide to Lieutenant Governor Bob Bullock and State Senators John
  Traeger and John Montford; and
         WHEREAS, Active in community affairs, Mr. Hooser was a leader
  in his Masonic lodge and Toastmasters Club and a deacon in his
  church; he was dedicated to serving as a volunteer for the AARP,
  where he organized travel ventures and taught defensive driving; and
         WHEREAS, He was a man of courage and integrity, and his
  impact on our state's educational system will not be forgotten; and
         WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather,
  and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his
  family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Ale H. Hooser: his wife, Jo; his son and daughter-in-law,
  Greg Hooser and Anne Brennan Hooser; his daughter and son-in-law,
  Pam and Joe Binder; and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Ale H. Hooser.
