SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 658
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Dan Sheperd for his exemplary service to the nation as
  a member of the United States Army; and
 
         WHEREAS, Dan Sheperd served in the 82nd Airborne Division
  in both Afghanistan and Iraq, joining the long tradition of those
  who have bravely and selflessly served the nation in this
  historic unit; and
 
         WHEREAS, Over the course of his military career, he was
  injured numerous times while fighting for our nation and its
  democratic ideals; he sustained shrapnel wounds, multiple
  concussions, and injuries from mortar attacks and improvised
  explosive devices; and
 
         WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have young
  men and women whose love of country compels them to take up
  military service, and it is truly fitting that Dan Sheperd be
  recognized for his service and sacrifice; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend Dan Sheperd on his courage and
  devotion to duty as a member of the United States Army and extend
  to him best wishes for success in all his future endeavors; and,
  be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of gratitude and esteem from the Texas
  Senate.
