SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 659
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Nicholas Orchowski for his exemplary service to the
  nation as a member of the United States Army; and
 
         WHEREAS, Nicholas Orchowski followed in the footsteps of
  his father when he chose military service and enlisted in the
  United States Army in April of 2003; he joined the long tradition
  of those who have bravely and selflessly served their country and
  its democratic ideals; and
 
         WHEREAS, He was assigned to serve as a military police
  officer and to help train the Iraqi police to assist in the
  establishment of the new government of their nation; while he was
  taking part in a security mission, the convoy in which he was
  riding was attacked by enemy forces, and Corporal Orchowski
  sustained serious spinal injuries; and
 
         WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have young
  men and women whose love of country compels them to take up
  military service, and it is truly fitting that Nicholas Orchowski
  be recognized for his service and sacrifice; now, therefore, be
  it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend Nicholas Orchowski on his courage
  and devotion to duty as a member of the United States Army and
  extend to him best wishes for success in all his future
  endeavors; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of gratitude and esteem from the Texas
  Senate.
