SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 659
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
recognize Nicholas Orchowski for his exemplary service to the |
|
nation as a member of the United States Army; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Nicholas Orchowski followed in the footsteps of |
|
his father when he chose military service and enlisted in the |
|
United States Army in April of 2003; he joined the long tradition |
|
of those who have bravely and selflessly served their country and |
|
its democratic ideals; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He was assigned to serve as a military police |
|
officer and to help train the Iraqi police to assist in the |
|
establishment of the new government of their nation; while he was |
|
taking part in a security mission, the convoy in which he was |
|
riding was attacked by enemy forces, and Corporal Orchowski |
|
sustained serious spinal injuries; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have young |
|
men and women whose love of country compels them to take up |
|
military service, and it is truly fitting that Nicholas Orchowski |
|
be recognized for his service and sacrifice; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
Legislature, hereby commend Nicholas Orchowski on his courage |
|
and devotion to duty as a member of the United States Army and |
|
extend to him best wishes for success in all his future |
|
endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
him as an expression of gratitude and esteem from the Texas |
|
Senate. |
