SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 660
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Matthew Keil for his exemplary service to the nation as
  a member of the United States Army; and
         WHEREAS, Matthew Keil enlisted in the United States Army
  immediately following his high school graduation in 2000,
  joining the long tradition of those who have bravely and
  selflessly served their country and its democratic ideals; and
         WHEREAS, While serving as infantry squad leader during his
  second tour of duty in Iraq, Staff Sergeant Keil was struck by
  sniper fire, resulting in severe damage to his spinal cord; over
  the course of his seven-year military career, he earned numerous
  medals and commendations, including two Bronze Stars and two
  Purple Hearts; and
         WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have young
  men and women whose love of country compels them to take up
  military service, and it is truly fitting that Matthew Keil be
  recognized for his service and sacrifice; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend Matthew Keil on his courage and
  devotion to duty as a member of the United States Army and extend
  to him best wishes for success in all his future endeavors; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of gratitude and esteem from the Texas
  Senate.
