SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 661
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Shawn L. Walton for his exemplary service to the nation
  as a member of the United States Army; and
         WHEREAS, Shawn L. Walton enlisted in the United States Army
  immediately after graduating early from high school; he joined
  the long tradition of those who have bravely and selflessly
  served their country and its democratic ideals; and
         WHEREAS, While serving as an infantry team leader during
  his second tour of duty in Iraq, Sergeant Walton suffered
  disabling injuries from an improvised explosive device; over the
  course of his military service, he earned several awards and
  citations, including a Purple Heart and an Army Commendation
  Medal; and
         WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have young
  men and women whose love of country compels them to take up
  military service, and it is truly fitting that Shawn Walton be
  recognized for his service and sacrifice; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend Shawn L. Walton on his courage and
  devotion to duty as a member of the United States Army and extend
  to him best wishes for success in all his future endeavors; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of gratitude and esteem from the Texas
  Senate.
