SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 674
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Richard Dale McClain on the grand occasion of his 70th
  birthday; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of his 70 years, he has seen many
  momentous events and changes in the world; men have landed on the
  moon; computers have become commonplace, much to his chagrin; and
  cell phones are the rule rather than the exception; and
         WHEREAS, Richard McClain was born April 15, 1941, in Saint
  Joseph, Missouri, to Clara Belle McClain and Dailey Irvin
  McClain; he moved to Baldwin City, Kansas, to attend Baker
  University, where he excelled at football and distinguished
  himself as a golf team star, making a hole-in-one in May of 1967
  at the Coffeyville Country Club; and
         WHEREAS, He served in the United States Army Honor Guard,
  stationed at Fort Myer in Arlington County, Virginia, during the
  presidency of John F. Kennedy; and
         WHEREAS, He takes great pride in his daughter, Lisa Marie,
  who has been a source of much joy, that joy being rivaled only by
  his love of golf; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. McClain worked successfully in sales for more
  than four decades; and
         WHEREAS, He generously gives his time and support to
  special-needs adults at Trinity Baptist Church in San Antonio,
  Texas; a respected and admired member of his community, he is
  truly deserving of recognition as he passes this birthday
  milestone; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend Richard Dale McClain on his many
  achievements and extend to him best wishes for a memorable 70th
  birthday; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
