SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 692
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Poth Hermann Sons Lodge 272-2 on the occasion of its
  100th anniversary; and
         WHEREAS, Poth Hermann Sons Lodge 272-2 was officially
  organized on April 2, 1911, through the efforts of Alex Klaus,
  Frank Malcher, August H. Raabe, Andreas J. Reinhard, and a group
  of other dedicated men; it grew out of what had previously been
  the German Amusement Club of Poth, established in 1907; and
         WHEREAS, Through the years, lodge members have worked with
  community and city leaders to accommodate local groups by
  offering them the use of the lodge's facilities; when the hall
  was rebuilt following a fire in 1940, the new structure was
  increased six feet in height so that the high school could use the
  building as a gymnasium; in its newest location, the lodge offers
  the community the use of a centrally air-conditioned and heated
  space; and
         WHEREAS, For 100 years, Poth Hermann Sons Lodge 272-2 has
  played an important role in the cultural life of the Poth
  community, and it is truly deserving of recognition as its
  members celebrate its centennial anniversary; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend Poth Hermann Sons Lodge 272-2 on its
  many contributions to the community and extend to its members
  best wishes for a memorable 100th anniversary celebration; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  this outstanding organization as an expression of esteem from the
  Texas Senate.
