SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 699
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Patrick Swint for his many years of outstanding service
  as a member of the United States armed forces; and
         WHEREAS, Patrick Swint began his military career in 1987
  when he enlisted in the Alabama Army National Guard; he converted
  to the Texas Air National Guard in 1989 and rose through the
  ranks, attaining the rank of staff sergeant in 1994; and
         WHEREAS, He entered Officer Candidate School that same
  year as a participant in the United States Army Physician
  Assistant School; he graduated in 1996 and was commissioned as a
  second lieutenant; he earned a bachelor's degree with honors in
  physician assistant studies from The University of Texas Health
  Science Center at San Antonio and a master's degree from the
  University of Nebraska; and
         WHEREAS, He was called to active duty several times,
  serving in Operation Desert Storm and as a deputy air surgeon
  during the joint task force Operation Jump Start Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Patrick Swint retired from the United States Air
  Force in 2008, having achieved the rank of major; over the course
  of his military career, he received numerous medals and
  commendations, including the Texas Desert Storm Medal, the
  National Defense Service Medal with one Service Star, and the Army
  Reserve Component Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Swint served the nation with honor and
  distinction, and it is truly fitting that he be recognized for
  his outstanding service; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend Patrick Swint on his exceptional
  service to the nation in the United States armed forces and
  extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his future
  endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
