SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 699
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Patrick Swint for his many years of outstanding service |
|
|
as a member of the United States armed forces; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Patrick Swint began his military career in 1987 |
|
|
when he enlisted in the Alabama Army National Guard; he converted |
|
|
to the Texas Air National Guard in 1989 and rose through the |
|
|
ranks, attaining the rank of staff sergeant in 1994; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He entered Officer Candidate School that same |
|
|
year as a participant in the United States Army Physician |
|
|
Assistant School; he graduated in 1996 and was commissioned as a |
|
|
second lieutenant; he earned a bachelor's degree with honors in |
|
|
physician assistant studies from The University of Texas Health |
|
|
Science Center at San Antonio and a master's degree from the |
|
|
University of Nebraska; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He was called to active duty several times, |
|
|
serving in Operation Desert Storm and as a deputy air surgeon |
|
|
during the joint task force Operation Jump Start Texas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Patrick Swint retired from the United States Air |
|
|
Force in 2008, having achieved the rank of major; over the course |
|
|
of his military career, he received numerous medals and |
|
|
commendations, including the Texas Desert Storm Medal, the |
|
|
National Defense Service Medal with one Service Star, and the Army |
|
|
Reserve Component Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Swint served the nation with honor and |
|
|
distinction, and it is truly fitting that he be recognized for |
|
|
his outstanding service; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Patrick Swint on his exceptional |
|
|
service to the nation in the United States armed forces and |
|
|
extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his future |
|
|
endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
