SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 728
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the delegation from Furneaux Elementary School in
  Carrollton on the occasion of its visit to the State Capitol; and
         WHEREAS, This distinguished group of fourth grade
  students, faculty, and parents is visiting the Capitol as part of
  Education in Action's Proud to Be Texan program; and
         WHEREAS, Education in Action is a nonprofit organization
  dedicated to empowering young people to be active and informed
  leaders in their communities; Proud to Be Texan offers the
  opportunity for students to visit Austin and study Texas history
  and government by visiting the Bob Bullock Texas State History
  Museum and by learning firsthand about their elected
  representatives; and
         WHEREAS, Furneaux Elementary School lives up to its motto
  of Children First by providing a wide array of programs and
  services for its diverse student body; learning styles and
  differences are accommodated and each grade level offers a full
  range of course offerings for special education and gifted and
  talented students; and
         WHEREAS, It is vitally important that students learn about
  the history and government of their state so that they may become
  informed and contributing members of society, and the Proud to Be
  Texan program is a valuable part of that process; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend the Furneaux Elementary School
  community on its commitment to excellence in education and extend
  to its delegation a sincere welcome to the State Capitol; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the Furneaux Elementary School delegation participating in
  Education in Action's Proud to Be Texan program as a momento of
  this special occasion.
