SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 732
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the members of the Campos family on the grand occasion |
|
|
of the 2011 Campos Family Reunion; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, On August 7, 1922, Guadalupe Cuellar and Alvino |
|
|
Guajardo Campos were united in marriage in Bay City, Texas; they |
|
|
went on to have 15 children, and they made their home in New Gulf; |
|
|
Guadalupe was dedicated to her work as a homemaker; Alvino worked |
|
|
for the Texas Gulf Sulphur Company, and he and the family picked |
|
|
pecans and cotton for the Davis Ranch; Alvino also owned and ran |
|
|
the Ramirez/Campos Café; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Alvino retired in 1962, and he and Guadalupe moved |
|
|
to Victoria in 1969; they were blessed with 53 grandchildren, 82 |
|
|
great-grandchildren, 38 great-great-grandchildren, and two |
|
|
great-great-great-grandchildren; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Campos family reunion is a way of preserving |
|
|
and strengthening the family ties that Guadalupe and Alvino |
|
|
believed in and nurtured; the reunion provides an opportunity for |
|
|
family members to learn of their rich history, celebrate their |
|
|
heritage, and prepare for the future; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Campos family is holding its third reunion on |
|
|
April 16, 2011, at the Boling Community Center in Boling, Texas; |
|
|
the event is being hosted by the grandchildren of Guadalupe and |
|
|
Alvino Campos; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The 2011 reunion is a manifestation of the pride |
|
|
the Campos family members have in their heritage and is an |
|
|
example of their commitment to family unity and loyalty; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby congratulate the members of the Campos |
|
|
family on their accomplishments and their strong family spirit |
|
|
and extend best wishes to them for a joyous 2011 Campos Family |
|
|
Reunion; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
the members of the Campos family as an expression of esteem from |
|
|
the Texas Senate. |
