SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 736

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Voz de Niños for its outstanding record in serving the needs of abused and neglected children as their cases are considered in the court system; and

WHEREAS, Voz de Niños is the Webb County affiliate of Court Appointed Special Advocates, a national organization whose volunteers serve as sponsors and supporters of mistreated children whose living situations are being determined by the court system; and

WHEREAS, These dedicated volunteers are appointed as guardians ad litem by the presiding court to advocate for the rights and interests of children; they serve in only one case at a time to ensure that each child receives full and proper representation; and

WHEREAS, Voz de Niños volunteers advocated in court for 43 children in 2010 alone, with numerous successful outcomes; the program offers training and support to its volunteers and encourages them to reach out to each person in a child's life to better effect a positive result for that child; and

WHEREAS, The only organization of its type in Webb County, Voz de Niños has made a profound difference in the lives of many abused and neglected children throughout the county; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend Voz de Niños on its dedication to the well-being of the children of Webb County and extend to its staff and volunteers best wishes for continued success; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this outstanding organization as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
