WHEREAS, United States service members render sacrifice |
that is truly beyond measure; and |
WHEREAS, These dedicated men and women are often away from |
their homes and families for lengthy periods of time, and many |
also leave behind promising careers; and |
WHEREAS, Veterans are among the most productive and |
motivated people in the country, with countless skills that are |
transferable from the military to the civilian workforce; |
moreover, their years of experience and training have helped them |
become strong leaders who excel at performing under pressure; and |
WHEREAS, Texas is home to some 1.7 million veterans, whose |
talent, work ethic, and dependability would greatly benefit |
employers and the overall economy; and |
WHEREAS, Texans, indeed all citizens, owe a profound debt |
of gratitude to each individual who serves or has served in the |
United States armed forces, and providing job opportunities for |
veterans is one way to express our admiration and appreciation |
for the experience they have gained in our service; now, |
therefore, be it |
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
Legislature, hereby encourage Texas employers to take full |
advantage of the skills, expertise, and character of these |
patriotic Americans by offering them employment opportunities; |
and, be it further |
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
