SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 747
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the World War II veterans from the 506th Fighter Group
  of the 7th Army Air Force on the occasion of their visit to the
  State Capitol; and
 
         WHEREAS, The 506th Fighter Group served with distinction
  in the Pacific theater during World War II; its members flew P-51
  Mustang fighters on long-range escort missions accompanying
  bombers from Iwo Jima to the Japanese mainland; and
 
         WHEREAS, The courageous men and women who have fought in
  wars and peacekeeping missions have set a lasting standard of
  bravery and gallantry for the people of this nation; their
  resolute strength and their selfless devotion to duty have left
  an indelible mark on the world; and
 
         WHEREAS, America's veterans have defended our nation's
  ideals, security, and safety, and they are truly deserving of
  recognition and gratitude for their many achievements and their
  sacrifices; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend the veterans of the 506th Fighter
  Group of the 7th Army Air Force on their many contributions to our
  nation's victory in the Pacific theater in World War II and
  extend to them a heartfelt welcome to the Texas Capitol; and, be
  it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for these
  veterans as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
