SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 747
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the World War II veterans from the 506th Fighter Group |
|
|
of the 7th Army Air Force on the occasion of their visit to the |
|
|
State Capitol; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The 506th Fighter Group served with distinction |
|
|
in the Pacific theater during World War II; its members flew P-51 |
|
|
Mustang fighters on long-range escort missions accompanying |
|
|
bombers from Iwo Jima to the Japanese mainland; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The courageous men and women who have fought in |
|
|
wars and peacekeeping missions have set a lasting standard of |
|
|
bravery and gallantry for the people of this nation; their |
|
|
resolute strength and their selfless devotion to duty have left |
|
|
an indelible mark on the world; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, America's veterans have defended our nation's |
|
|
ideals, security, and safety, and they are truly deserving of |
|
|
recognition and gratitude for their many achievements and their |
|
|
sacrifices; now, therefore, be it |
| |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend the veterans of the 506th Fighter |
|
|
Group of the 7th Army Air Force on their many contributions to our |
|
|
nation's victory in the Pacific theater in World War II and |
|
|
extend to them a heartfelt welcome to the Texas Capitol; and, be |
|
|
it further |

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for these |
|
|
veterans as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
