SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 757
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the 2011 Houston Spanish and Flamenco Festival, which
  is taking place April 14 through 16, 2011; and
 
         WHEREAS, A unique combination of art, education, and
  culture, the 2011 Houston Spanish and Flamenco Festival is a
  collaborative effort of Solero Flamenco, San Jacinto College
  South, and the Consulate General of Spain to bring to the people
  of Houston the beauty and variety of Spanish culture; and
 
         WHEREAS, Solero Flamenco, led by Irma La Paloma and
  Jeremias Garcia, has engaged and delighted audiences with its
  mastery of this compelling art form; and
 
         WHEREAS, San Jacinto College South has set a precedent for
  other institutions of higher education by offering opportunities
  for students and the community at large to learn about the depth
  and traditions of flamenco; and
 
         WHEREAS, This exemplary event is truly deserving of
  recognition for its contribution to the rich cultural and
  artistic tapestry of our state; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend the sponsors and organizers of the
  2011 Houston Spanish and Flamenco Festival on their commitment to
  expanding cultural horizons in Texas and extend to them best
  wishes for a successful event; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
  honor of this special occasion.
