SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 757
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize the 2011 Houston Spanish and Flamenco Festival, which |
|
|
is taking place April 14 through 16, 2011; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, A unique combination of art, education, and |
|
|
culture, the 2011 Houston Spanish and Flamenco Festival is a |
|
|
collaborative effort of Solero Flamenco, San Jacinto College |
|
|
South, and the Consulate General of Spain to bring to the people |
|
|
of Houston the beauty and variety of Spanish culture; and |

|
|
WHEREAS, Solero Flamenco, led by Irma La Paloma and |
|
|
Jeremias Garcia, has engaged and delighted audiences with its |
|
|
mastery of this compelling art form; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, San Jacinto College South has set a precedent for |
|
|
other institutions of higher education by offering opportunities |
|
|
for students and the community at large to learn about the depth |
|
|
and traditions of flamenco; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, This exemplary event is truly deserving of |
|
|
recognition for its contribution to the rich cultural and |
|
|
artistic tapestry of our state; now, therefore, be it |
| |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend the sponsors and organizers of the |
|
|
2011 Houston Spanish and Flamenco Festival on their commitment to |
|
|
expanding cultural horizons in Texas and extend to them best |
|
|
wishes for a successful event; and, be it further |

|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|
|
honor of this special occasion. |
