SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 772
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to pay
  tribute to Clarice Sweeney-Gerald on the special occasion of her
  80th birthday; and
         WHEREAS, Clarice Sweeney was born May 7, 1931, in Pelham,
  Texas, to Chestine Pace and P. G. Sweeney; she married Pastor C.
  H. Gerald on September 17, 1949, and they enjoyed more than 48
  years together until his death in 1998; they had seven children;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Sweeney-Gerald has been a housewife all of
  her life and served as the First Lady of Community First Baptist
  Church for 31 years; and
         WHEREAS, Her family has grown to include 30 grandchildren
  and 21 great-grandchildren, who are the source of much joy and
  happiness in her life; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Sweeney-Gerald is a revered and respected
  member of her community and is well known for her wisdom, her
  generosity, and her compassion for others; friends and family
  members are gathering at the Lancaster Community Center on May 6,
  2011, to celebrate her 80th birthday; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby recognize Clarice Sweeney-Gerald as a
  treasured citizen of this state and extend to her best wishes for
  a memorable birthday celebration; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  Mrs. Sweeney-Gerald as an expression of esteem from the Texas
  Senate.
