SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 806
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Harry Joseph Burns
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Harry Joseph
  Burns, who died on March 3, 2011, at the age of 83; and
         WHEREAS, Harry Burns was born on January 30, 1928, in Saint
  Louis to Theresa and Harry J. Burns; he moved to San Antonio at
  the age of five and attended Catholic schools, graduating from
  Central Catholic High School in 1944; and
         WHEREAS, He earned a bachelor's degree in business
  administration from Saint Mary's University in 1948 and a law
  degree from the university's School of Law in 1951; he was a
  practicing attorney for nearly 60 years, serving as president of
  the San Antonio Bar Association and as a director of the State Bar
  of Texas; he served in the Texas National Guard, 36th Infantry
  Division, and was appointed as a judge on the Court of Military
  Appeals; he retired with the rank of major; and
         WHEREAS, A leader in his community, Mr. Burns was a member
  of the Texas Cavaliers and served as president of the Bexar
  Kiwanis Club and the Town Club; he was a member of the board of
  directors of the Westside Bank; and
         WHEREAS, A distinguished and highly respected gentleman,
  Harry Burns was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and
  he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his
  family and all who knew him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the family of
  Harry Joseph Burns: his wife of 60 years, Olive "Tucker" Martin
  Burns; his son, Paul Michael "Mike" Burns; his daughter, Mary
  Elizabeth "Molly" Burns Banowetz; and his two grandchildren;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Harry Joseph Burns.
