SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 818
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Jerome McKown, who is retiring after more than 31 years |
|
|
of loyal service with the La Porte Police Department; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Highly respected by his colleagues, Officer |
|
|
McKown is well known for his dedication to his profession and for |
|
|
his courage and leadership; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He began his full-time career with the department |
|
|
on November 1, 1979; during his tenure, he has served in the |
|
|
Patrol Division, the Administration Division, and the Support |
|
|
Services Division; his specific assignments have included |
|
|
serving as patrol officer, internal affairs detective, crime |
|
|
prevention officer, and police area representative; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Officer McKown holds a master peace officer's |
|
|
certification and is a certified crime prevention specialist and |
|
|
firearms instructor; he served as president of the Texas |
|
|
Municipal Police Association for two years; while serving as a |
|
|
police officer, he also served as an adjunct professor for |
|
|
Criminal Justice at San Jacinto College; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Throughout his exceptional career, Jerome has |
|
|
manifested uncommon talent in managing the far-reaching |
|
|
responsibilities of a police officer, and he is admired by |
|
|
citizens throughout the community for his high standards and |
|
|
professionalism; during his service, he has received over 65 |
|
|
written commendations; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, |
|
|
Officer McKown will be greatly missed by all who are a part of the |
|
|
La Porte Police Department; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Jerome McKown on his outstanding |
|
|
career with the La Porte Police Department and extend to him best |
|
|
wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
