SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 892
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce
  and its PATHS Forward leadership development program; and
         WHEREAS, The Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of
  Commerce was formed in 1979 with the goal of making Fort Worth a
  better place to work and raise a family; an independent,
  nonprofit organization, its activities are guided by a
  volunteer-elected board of directors and officers; and
         WHEREAS, The chamber's mission is to promote, assist, and
  enhance economic and business development for its members and
  create wealth in the community it serves; one of its many
  successful programs is the nine-month leadership development
  program PATHS Forward; and
         WHEREAS, PATHS Forward is designed to prepare promising
  African American professionals who are 21 to 40 years of age to
  participate as leaders in the greater Fort Worth metropolitan
  area; its third program will begin on April 30, 2011, with 14
  participants; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout the year, members of the program will
  meet once a month, and during the months of August, September,
  and October, they will work with local nonprofit organizations to
  create and deliver community service projects; and
         WHEREAS, The program participants will develop an
  appreciation for their own personal strengths, talents, and
  weaknesses while honing their leadership and speaking skills;
  their expanded understanding of the Fort Worth and Tarrant County
  metropolitan area will create new opportunities for them to
  achieve professional and personal success; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend the Fort Worth Metropolitan Black
  Chamber of Commerce and the participants in the PATHS Forward
  program for their leadership, their service, and their many
  contributions to Fort Worth and the greater Tarrant County area
  and extend to all best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an
  expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
