SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 932
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Dr. Lannette Linthicum, who has received the 2011 E. R.
  Cass Correctional Achievement Award; and
         WHEREAS, This prestigious award is presented by the
  American Correctional Association and is named in honor of Edward
  R. Cass, who dedicated more than 50 years of his life to improving
  correctional practices and advancing the goals of the
  association; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Linthicum is the director for health services
  at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice; she supervises the
  medical care of 155,000 men and women housed in 112 facilities
  across the state, and she is nationally recognized for the
  compassionate care she has provided to Texas inmates over the
  years; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Linthicum began her career with the
  department in 1986 as the unit health authority for the
  Huntsville Prison Facility; in 1988, she opened the Estelle Unit
  Central Region Medical Facility, and she has held her current
  position as director for health services for the department for
  the last 13 years; she has shown a high degree of innovation and
  professional accountability, and she has worked to provide
  access to compassionate and skilled medical treatment for all
  offenders; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Linthicum has strengthened quality and
  ethical standards through the creation of a health care
  ombudsman's office; she has further worked to advance
  correctional health care on a national scale by developing
  clinical practice guidelines and standards; and
         WHEREAS, She is truly deserving of recognition for her
  dedication and her many professional achievements; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Lannette Linthicum on her
  commitment to improving correctional health care and extend to
  her congratulations on receiving the 2011 E. R. Cass Correctional
  Achievement Award from the American Correctional Association;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
