SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 938

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Lumbermen's Association of Texas on the occasion of its 125th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, The Lumbermen's Association of Texas was founded on May 15, 1886, at the Millett Opera House in Austin, and the association is commemorating the 125th anniversary of its founding at its annual convention in 2011; and

WHEREAS, The association presently consists of approximately 600 lumber and building material suppliers located in or providing service in every county and over 200 cities and towns in Texas; and

WHEREAS, The association is one of the largest regional organizations of lumber and retail building material dealers in the United States; and

WHEREAS, Since the association's founding in 1886, the state's population has increased from less than two million to more than 24 million people; and

WHEREAS, During the past 125 years, the association and its members have played a vital role in the remarkable growth and development of this state; and

WHEREAS, It is appropriate that the Texas Senate recognize this tradition of service; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby congratulate the Lumbermen's Association of Texas and its members on the occasion of its 125th anniversary; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the association as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate.
