SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 953
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the City of Dalworthington Gardens on the occasion of
  its 75th anniversary, which is being celebrated with the
  dedication of a Texas Historical Marker on June 12, 2011; and
 
         WHEREAS, The City of Dalworthington Gardens can trace its
  history to the New Deal programs of President Franklin D.
  Roosevelt; it was originally begun as part of a subsistence
  homestead program under the National Industrial Recovery Act; in
  1936, it was incorporated into its management division, the
  Dalworthington Homestead Association, which signed a management
  contract with the Resettlement Administration that same year;
  residents voted to incorporate as a town in 1949, and the town
  became a city in 1968; and
 
         WHEREAS, Today, the City of Dalworthington Gardens is the
  only remaining subsistence homestead project that continues to
  exist as an autonomous community in this state; it maintains its
  rural atmosphere as an oasis of small-town life in the midst of
  the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex; and
 
         WHEREAS, The citizens of Dalworthington Gardens look
  eagerly to the promise of the future while continuing to
  celebrate their colorful past; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of the City of
  Dalworthington Gardens on their many contributions to the rich
  history and culture of our state and extend to them best wishes
  for a memorable 75th anniversary celebration; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the city as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
