SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 957

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Darren Lathen, who is retiring from the Garland City Council after four years of outstanding service; and

WHEREAS, An information technology professional, Mr. Lathen has served two terms as the District 8 representative on the city council, beginning in 2007; he previously served as a member of the council's Ethics Board and Charter Review Committee; and

WHEREAS, During his tenure on the council, he has been known for his commitment to small government, and he has worked diligently to maintain a reasonable tax rate for citizens; and

WHEREAS, Talented and creative, he has handled his many responsibilities on the council with exceptional skill and dedication; he has chaired the Administrative Services Committee and has served on the Community Services, Utility Services, Public Safety, and Development Services Committees; and

WHEREAS, An outstanding public servant, Mr. Lathen is respected and admired by colleagues and constituents alike, and his presence on the Garland City Council will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend Darren Lathen on his exemplary service to the people of Garland as a member of the Garland City Council and extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his future endeavors; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
