SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 958
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Barbara Chick, who is retiring from the Garland City
  Council after six years of outstanding service; and
 
         WHEREAS, A resident of Garland since 1950, Mrs. Chick began
  the first of her three terms on the city council representing
  District 6 in May of 2005 and has served her community with
  dedication and distinction; and
 
         WHEREAS, Throughout her career on the city council, she has
  been noted for her superior skills and expertise; she has focused
  her considerable talents and energies on helping the people of
  her district benefit from the city's redevelopment goals; she
  also served on the city's Plan Commission and on the West Area
  Implementation Committee; and
 
         WHEREAS, Capable and resourceful, she has handled her
  responsibilities on the council with impressive skill and
  proficiency; she served as chair of the Administrative Services
  Committee and as a member of the Audit and Community Services
  Committees; and
 
         WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, she is respected and
  admired by her colleagues and her constituents alike, and her
  presence on the Garland City Council will be greatly missed; now,
  therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend Barbara Chick on her exceptional
  service to the citizens of Garland as a member of the Garland City
  Council and extend to her best wishes for continued success in
  all her future endeavors; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
