SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 975
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  join Texans across the state in celebrating May of 2011 as
  National Water Safety Month; and
 
         WHEREAS, Swimming and other aquatic activities play an
  important role in maintaining good physical and mental health and
  in enhancing the quality of life of those who participate in
  these beneficial pursuits; and
 
         WHEREAS, Education on water safety is essential in
  nationwide efforts to prevent drowning and other recreational
  water-related injuries; the industries involved in swimming and
  aquatic activities have made ongoing efforts to educate the
  public on pool and spa safety issues and to develop and provide
  healthy spaces in which to take part in these sports; and
 
         WHEREAS, The citizens of Texas understand the vital
  importance of communicating water safety rules and programs to
  people of all ages; it is truly fitting that they acknowledge
  this vital issue by observing National Water Safety Month; now,
  therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby join Texans everywhere in commemorating May
  of 2011 as National Water Safety Month; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
  honor of this important event.
