SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1003

Jerome Levy |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|
citizens of Houston in mourning the loss of Jerome Levy, who died |
|
March 10, 2011, at the age of 69; and |
|
WHEREAS, Jerome Levy was born February 19, 1942, in |
|
Houston; he attended Bellaire High School before going on to |
|
Texas A&M University, where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets |
|
and earned a bachelor of business administration degree; and |
|
WHEREAS, Following his graduation, he served with |
|
distinction in the United States Air Force Reserve before |
|
embarking on a career as a stockbroker; he worked for many years |
|
at UBS, serving his clients with integrity and loyalty; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Levy was an avid sports fan from a young age; he |
|
was sports editor at Bellaire High School and for 40 years served on |
|
the statistics team and as scorekeeper for the Houston Rockets; he |
|
played handball for many years before switching to golf, and he |
|
played most weekends with a cherished group of friends; and |
|
WHEREAS, He was also active with numerous community |
|
organizations, including the Channel 8 Auction and Cherish Our |
|
Children International; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Levy always maintained that one of his best life |
|
decisions was to marry his wife, Arlene, with whom he shared more |
|
than four decades of mutual love and devotion; he was a doting father |
|
who treasured the time he spent with his daughters, preparing their |
|
lunches, taking them to the office on weekends, attending every dance |
|
recital, and supporting them with warmth and compassion; and |
|
WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and generosity, he |
|
gave unselfishly to others, and although he will be deeply missed |
|
by his family and countless friends, he will continue to live in |
|
their hearts and minds; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
family of Jerome Levy: his wife of 41 years, Arlene; his |
|
daughters, Genene and Jennifer; his brother, Kenny; and his |
|
grandchildren, Max and Lily; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
memory of Jerome Levy. |
