SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1011
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Juan L. Castillo, who is retiring as Area Commander of the
  United States Department of Homeland Security, Federal Protective
  Service, after more than a decade of outstanding service; and
         WHEREAS, Commander Castillo began his service to the
  nation as a member of the United States Marine Corps, and he
  served a tour of duty in Vietnam; he received several medals,
  including a Purple Heart, and following his active duty service,
  he was for 10 years a member of the Marine Corps Reserve; and
         WHEREAS, Commander Castillo brought a wealth of law
  enforcement experience to bear when he joined the Federal
  Protective Service in 1983; he began his career as a federal
  protective officer in San Antonio and worked his way through the
  ranks, holding such positions as field training officer,
  criminal investigator, and physical security specialist; and
         WHEREAS, Commander Castillo has also played an important
  role in the life of his community, serving as a member and president
  of the board of the Edgewood Independent School District and
  working with the Edgewood Pony League Baseball program; and
         WHEREAS, He has received several awards and commendations for
  his exemplary service, including Federal Police Officer of the Year
  and Supervisor of the Year; he is truly deserving of recognition for
  his commitment and his dedication; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend Juan L. Castillo on his exceptional
  service to the American people as Area Commander of the United
  States Department of Homeland Security, Federal Protective
  Service, and extend to him best wishes for continued success in
  all his future endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
