SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1044
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Paul Eugene Green
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Paul Eugene Green, who
  died May 8, 2011, at the age of 89; and
         WHEREAS, Paul Green was born May 7, 1922, in Tracy, Texas;
  he moved to Austin when he was 15 years old and graduated from
  Austin High School in 1940; he worked at Checker Front Grocery
  Store and the Majestic Beauty Salon before joining the United
  States Navy in October of 1942; and
         WHEREAS, After his military service, he returned to work at
  the Majestic Beauty Salon; on February 16, 1946, he married his
  childhood sweetheart, Gladys Rinn, and they enjoyed a loving
  marriage for almost 50 years; he worked as a hairdresser for 70
  years, and he owned and operated Paul's Beauty Salon since 1951;
  and
         WHEREAS, Paul Green was renowned for his zest for life, and
  he was active in numerous organizations, including the Genesis
  Presbyterian Church and choir, the Friendship Club, the Govalle
  "Gang," the Garden Club of Austin, the Scandinavian Club, the USS
  Franks Reunion Crew, the YMCA of Austin, and local, state, and
  national hairdressers' associations; and
         WHEREAS, Paul Green was an admired and respected member of
  his community; he truly cared for others, and he was certainly
  loved in return; he was a devoted father and grandfather, and he
  leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his
  family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Paul Eugene Green:  his four children, his nine
  grandchildren, and his five great-grandchildren; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Paul Eugene Green.
