SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1135

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to join the citizens of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex in celebrating May 30, 2011, Memorial Day, as Carry the Load Day; and

WHEREAS, Memorial Day is a time to honor those who have served our communities, such as the men and women of the military, members of the law enforcement community, and firefighters; every day, these courageous men and women "carry the load" for citizens across the country with their service and sacrifice; and

WHEREAS, As part of the 100th anniversary celebration of the completion of White Rock Lake, an event called Carry the Load has been organized as a way to observe Memorial Day by paying tribute to those who serve and by raising funds to benefit the wounded and the families of the fallen; and

WHEREAS, This outstanding event provides an opportunity for citizens to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who serve our nation every day and to honor the memory of the countless others who have played such a vital role in our nation's history; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend the organizers of the Carry the Load event for their efforts to honor and assist the members of the military, law enforcement, and firefighting services and extend to them best wishes for a memorable Carry the Load Day; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor of this special day.
