SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1137
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize John Murphy, who is retiring as Place 3 council member
  for the City of Richardson after 20 years of exemplary service; and
 
         WHEREAS, Mr. Murphy was first elected to the city council
  in 1991 and was chosen by his colleagues to serve as mayor pro
  tempore from 1995 to 2007; over the course of his tenure in
  office, he has served as secretary, vice president, and president
  of the executive board for the North Central Texas Council of
  Governments; and
 
         WHEREAS, A veteran of the oil and gas and banking industries,
  Mr. Murphy currently serves as president of Max Impressions,
  Incorporated, a printing and graphics communications company; and
 
         WHEREAS, He has served as the district voting
  representative on the Regional Transportation Council and was
  the Region 13 representative on the board of directors for the
  Texas Municipal League from 1998 through 2002; and
 
         WHEREAS, An outstanding public servant, Mr. Murphy is
  respected and admired by colleagues and constituents alike, and
  his presence on the Richardson City Council will be greatly
  missed; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend John Murphy on his outstanding service
  to the City of Richardson and extend to him best wishes for
  continued success in all his future endeavors; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
