SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1139
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in
  recognizing Yeoman First Class Mark Anthony Flores on the
  occasion of his retirement from the United States Navy after many
  years of loyal service; and
 
         WHEREAS, A native of San Antonio, Mark Anthony Flores was a
  senior in high school when he enlisted in the Delayed Entry
  Program in December of 1990; he reported to Recruit Training
  Command in San Diego in August of 1991 and after graduation to the
  Naval School of Health Sciences for Hospital Corpsman "A" School;
  and
 
         WHEREAS, After graduating in the top 10 in his class in
  February of 1992, he reported to his first assignment at the
  Naval Medical Center in San Diego, where he served as a general
  duty corpsman in the post-anesthesia care unit and cross-trained
  in the intensive care unit; and
 
         WHEREAS, His next assignment was in Okinawa, Japan, at the
  United States Naval Hospital, where he worked in several
  different capacities and attended the United States Air Force
  Airman Leadership School; he also earned an associate of arts
  degree in general education at the University of Maryland, Asian
  Division; and
 
         WHEREAS, Petty Officer Flores then reported to the
  national Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, and later
  attended Field Medical Service School at Camp Geiger in
  Jacksonville, North Carolina; he returned to Bethesda to report
  to the Naval Medicine Education and Training Command; he became
  Flag Writer to the surgeon general of the Navy, attended Yeoman
  "A" School and Flag Writer "C" School, and served as Flag Writer
  for a succession of officers in the Pacific Fleet, including the
  commander of the submarine force at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, before
  serving his final tour as Flag Writer for the commander of the
  Joint Task Force, National Capital Region Medical; and
 
         WHEREAS, Throughout his career in the Navy, Yeoman First
  Class Mark Anthony Flores has shown exceptional loyalty to his
  country and commitment to his duties; he has received many
  personal awards and commendations for his meritorious service,
  and he has earned bachelor's and master's degrees in business
  administration from Hawaii Pacific University; now, therefore,
  be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend Yeoman First Class Mark Anthony
  Flores on his excellent career in the United States Navy and
  extend to him best wishes in all his future endeavors; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
