SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1179
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Alexis Vicente Maldonado
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Specialist Alexis Vicente Maldonado,
  who died August 21, 2010, at the age of 20, while serving his
  country in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom;
  and
         WHEREAS, Alexis Maldonado was born July 16, 1990, in
  Wichita Falls to Jesse and Alicia Maldonado; after graduating
  from high school, he became the proud father of a baby boy named
  Isaiah; and
         WHEREAS, He enlisted in the United States Army and was
  trained as a combat engineer; he was assigned to the 20th
  Engineer Battalion as part of the 510th Clearance Company, 3rd
  Platoon; and
         WHEREAS, Specialist Maldonado completed more than 100
  clearance missions as a machine gunner in Afghanistan; he was
  awarded numerous medals and service ribbons, including the
  Bronze Star and the Purple Heart; and
         WHEREAS, Specialist Alexis Vicente Maldonado was an
  honorable and courageous patriot who was serving in a foreign
  land during a time of extreme danger when he made the ultimate
  sacrifice for his country; an exemplary soldier, a loving and
  dedicated father, and a devoted son, he leaves behind memories
  that will be treasured forever by his family and many friends;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Alexis Vicente Maldonado: his son, Isaiah Malachi
  Maldonado; his father, Jesse Maldonado, and his wife, Linda; his
  mother, Alicia Maldonado, and her husband, Keith Hastings; his
  grandparents, Robert and Irene Butterfield, Frank and Rosie
  Rodriguez, Ruben and Ruth Castillo, and David Hernandez
  Everette; his great-grandmother, Jesusa Garcia Aguirre; his
  brothers, Brad Newlin and Sergio Maldonado; his sister, Aleksi
  Marie Maldonado; and his fiancé, Baronica Chapa; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate,
  and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
  Alexis Vicente Maldonado.
