SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1194
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Austin Garrett Staggs
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Private First Class Austin Garrett
  Staggs, who died November 29, 2010, at the age of 19, while
  serving his country in Afghanistan in support of Operation
  Enduring Freedom; and
         WHEREAS, Austin Staggs was bravely serving with the 1st
  Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st
  Airborne Division, when he made the ultimate sacrifice; and
         WHEREAS, Austin was born in Fort Worth on January 11, 1991,
  and spent time growing up with his father in Georgia and his
  mother in Weatherford; he attended Weatherford High School and
  graduated from North Hills Private School in Millsap, Texas, in
  2008; and
         WHEREAS, A big-hearted young man who enriched the lives of
  his family and friends, he was an honorable soldier, and he
  served his country faithfully and courageously during a
  dangerous time; his patriotism and devotion to duty are truly
  inspirational; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Private First
  Class Austin Garrett Staggs and extend sincere condolences to his
  bereaved family: his wife, Sheena Staggs; his son, Kallen
  Staggs; his father and stepmother, Byram Staggs and Kelly
  Dunavin; his mother and stepfather, Kaye and Judd Jordan; his
  sisters, Emily Staggs and Sarah Staggs; his grandparents, Bobby
  Joe and Gertrude Staggs and Marion Buckner; his two brothers; and
  his beloved nieces and nephews; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Austin Garrett Staggs.
