SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1197

Oscar Raul Cárdenas |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|
|
citizens of McAllen in mourning the loss of Oscar Raul Cárdenas, |
|
|
who died May 13, 2011, at the age of 50; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Oscar Raul Cárdenas was an exemplary citizen |
|
|
whose determination, spirit, and many accomplishments in the |
|
|
face of adversity served as an inspiration to all those who knew |
|
|
him; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Born July 3, 1960, in McAllen, Mr. Cárdenas earned |
|
|
a bachelor of business administration degree from Texas A&M |
|
|
University; he worked a short time for an accounting firm before |
|
|
becoming an entrepreneur, creating a series of businesses and |
|
|
achieving great success with Medical Accounts Receivable |
|
|
Services and the Copy It Printing Center; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Cárdenas played a vital role in his community, |
|
|
leading a wide variety of organizations as president, including |
|
|
the Muscular Dystrophy Association of the Rio Grande Valley, |
|
|
McAllen Easter Seals, and the Better Business Bureau; he was |
|
|
named the 2004 McAllen Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year and the |
|
|
2008 Easter Seals Humanitarian of the Year; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compelling |
|
|
enthusiasm, Mr. Cárdenas possessed the rare ability to have |
|
|
people remember his vitality rather than his infirmity, and |
|
|
although he will be deeply missed by his family and countless |
|
|
friends, he will continue to live in their hearts and minds |
|
|
forever; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
|
family of Oscar Raul Cárdenas; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
|
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
|
memory of Oscar Raul Cárdenas. |
