SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1205
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Paul Foerster, who is retiring after 50 years of
  exceptional service as a teacher of mathematics at Alamo Heights
  High School in San Antonio; and
         WHEREAS, A 1957 engineering graduate of The University of
  Texas at Austin, Mr. Foerster entered the field of education as a
  part-time tutor while working for the United States Navy Nuclear
  Propulsion Program; he discovered the moment when a student
  finally grasped a complex concept to be extremely fulfilling and
  made the decision to become a full-time educator; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Foerster's students have benefited greatly
  from his skillful teaching methods, which include making up his
  own problems and examples that relate to the real world and
  combining a lecture format with collaborative group work in the
  classroom; his willingness to try new methods and approaches has
  helped students of differing abilities reach their full
  potential; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to his work in the classroom, Mr.
  Foerster has written several textbooks, which are still in wide
  usage across the country; he continues to add to the literature
  in the field and is perfecting the latest edition of his algebra
  and trigonometry text; and
         WHEREAS, A dedicated and resourceful educator, he has
  instilled in his students an appreciation for challenges and a
  lifelong love of learning; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend Paul Foerster on his commitment to
  his students and his profession over the course of 50 years of
  teaching mathematics at Alamo Heights High School and extend to
  him best wishes for continued success in all his future
  endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of highest regard from the Texas Senate.
