SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1242

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Tex Mitchell IV, who has received the Heroism Award from the Boy Scouts of America; and

WHEREAS, This prestigious award is given to those Scouts who have demonstrated heroism and skill in saving or attempting to save a life using the skills and ideals learned in Scouting; and

WHEREAS, Tex displayed those skills in rescuing his neighbor, who is unable to swim and who had stumbled into the deep end of a pool; this exemplary young man credits his actions to the education and experience he received while participating in Scouting; and

WHEREAS, Tex is truly deserving of recognition for his commitment to Scouting and his determination to use its lessons in his daily life; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, hereby commend Tex Mitchell IV on his quick thinking and decisive action and extend congratulations to him on receiving the Heroism Award from the Boy Scouts of America; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
