LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 2, 2011

TO:
Honorable Byron Cook, Chair, House Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB73 by Martinez, "Mando" (Relating to the dissemination of criminal history record information to state agencies for employment or contracting purposes.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code by expanding the number of people for which state agencies could request criminal history record information. For this analysis, it is assumed that state agencies would not significantly increase the number of requests for background checks and that the cost of implementing the bill would not be significant.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
