No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Local Government Code to authorize a municipality with a population of 25,000 to 49,999 to extend their extraterritorial jurisdiction to within three miles of the boundaries; current statute permits extension within two miles.

The bill also would amend the date for apportionment of extraterritorial jurisdictions of certain overlapping municipalities to September 1, 2011.


Local Government Impact

According to the Texas Municipal League (TML), the fiscal impact to municipalities is not anticipated to be significant.
