LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 8, 2011

TO:
Honorable Lois W. Kolkhorst, Chair, House Committee on Public Health

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB127 by Alvarado (Relating to the types of beverages that may be sold to students on public school campuses.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Agriculture Code to specify what beverages may not be sold to students on public school campuses.

Based on information provided by the Department of Agriculture and the Texas Education Agency, this analysis assumes that there would be a minimal cost associated implementing the provisions of the bill.

The bill would apply beginning with the 2011-2012 school year.

The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all members elected to each house; otherwise it would take effect September 1, 2011.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
