No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill amends various provisions in the Education Code that relate to dropped courses at public institutions of higher education.  Under provisions of the bill, institutions can adopt a policy that limits the number of courses a student is permitted to drop. Section 51.907 (c) of the Education Code that limits the total number of drops to six courses, including transfer courses is repealed in the bill. Any costs associated with implementing the bill would be absorbed within current resources.  Some institutions have indicated that provisions in the bill could potentially reduce the amount of time needed to monitor and track students.

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
